Lisa Riegel, Ph.D.

Lisa Riegel, Ph.D.  works with schools to set up a NeuroWell culture that is based on brain research and can more effectively engage students and staff. Her strategic counsel on program improvement, culture-building, working with at-risk and neurodivergent students, communication, and evaluation has been sought internationally. Dr. Riegel is also a co-founder of JAKAPA, a software that measures, trains, and tracks 32 essential skills in five areas: self-management, cooperation, innovation, social engagement, and emotional resilience. Dr. Riegel earned dual bachelor’s degrees in English and Secondary Education from Kent State University.  She holds a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Otterbein University and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from The Ohio State University. Her work on community-school partnerships, special education, and value-added data has appeared in peer-reviewed journals, and she has authored four books: No Parent Left Behind, Stop Doing What Doesn’t Work: Creating Meaningful Partnerships with Today’s Families,  It’s Not About the Test, and NeuroWell.
